The licence is tied to the motherboard of the PC. It is not transferable to another computer, and a motherboard change is liable to invalidate activation. Reinstalling Windows on the same hardware, on the other hand, poses no problem: the key remains valid. If you plan to migrate the licence one day, choose a Retail key instead.

Activation

The key arrives by e-mail within 24 hours at most. Enter it in Settings › Update & Security › Activation › Change product key. Validation is done online with Microsoft and takes a few seconds.
