Squad is a tactical military shooter developed by Offworld Industries, sitting between the mainstream shooter and the military simulation. Matches pit two sides of fifty players against each other on huge maps, and everything rests on organisation: players are split into squads of nine, led by a squad leader, who are themselves coordinated by a commander. The built-in voice communication, with squad radio and proximity voice, is not an accessory but the heart of the game — a silent team almost always loses.
