The Forest is the horror survival game by Endnight Games that largely helped define the genre on PC. After your plane crash, you wake up alone on a wooded peninsula, your son abducted before your eyes. The daytime is devoted to ordinary survival: felling trees, building a shelter, hunting, purifying water, crafting tools. At night, the island's inhabitants — a tribe of mutant cannibals — approach your camp and the mood shifts completely.
