VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) 8.0b is revision 8.0b of VMware's bare-metal hypervisor. Installed directly on the server, it lets you run several isolated virtual machines on a single physical machine, with a minimal system footprint. This licence covers 2 devices, with no time limit: enough to virtualise two servers, for example a production host and a backup or test host.

What ESXi 8.0b enables

Compatibility

64-bit x86 servers present on VMware's hardware compatibility list for vSphere 8. A processor with virtualisation instructions is mandatory. As with the whole 8 branch, some older storage controllers are no longer supported: checking your hardware beforehand avoids a nasty surprise during installation.

Activation

Your licence keys reach you by email within 24 hours at most. Install ESXi 8.0b on each of the two servers, open the web administration interface, go to licence management and enter the corresponding key on each host.
