Retail: the transferable licence

A Retail key belongs to you independently of the hardware. Changing computer, replacing a motherboard or rebuilding your machine? You deactivate the licence on the old configuration and activate it on the new one. This is the main difference from an OEM key, which is permanently tied to its original motherboard.

Activation

The product key reaches you by e-mail within 24 hours at most. Enter it in Settings › Update & Security › Activation. We advise you then to link the licence to your Microsoft account: reactivation after a hardware change is then done in a few clicks.
