Outlast 2 is a first-person horror and survival game developed by the Montreal studio Red Barrels. You play Blake Langermann, a cameraman investigating a murder in rural Arizona, whose helicopter crashes above an isolated valley occupied by a fanatical community. There are no weapons in the game: the only response to danger is to flee and hide.

What awaits you

• No combat — run, hide under a bed, in a locker or in the tall grass and manage your breathing so as not to be spotted.
• The camera — the central tool of the game: night vision to advance in the dark, directional microphone to locate noises and batteries to find constantly.
• Outdoor environments — unlike the first instalment confined to an asylum, this one takes place in fields, farms and forests, which changes the way you flee.
• Dream sequences — flashbacks in a Catholic school that alternate with the pursuit and advance a second plot.
• Documents and recordings — notes to pick up and filmed footage with commentary that complete the story.
